Holiday Bucket List 2020

I can hardly believe it, but Christmas is only 10 days away! The holiday season obviously looks very different this year, but I've been determined to make the most of it! Back in November, I made a list of all the things I would like to do to celebrate the holidays and I decided to share it in case anyone needs some creative ways to get themselves into the holiday spirit!

  • Decorate Christmas cookies - I bought about a dozen new cookie cutters last month (linked below)! We plan on baking and decorating this weekend!

  • Walk around downtown Chicago and look at Christmas lights - pandemic or not, there is nothing like strolling through downtown and looking at the city's light displays! It's a nice dog-friendly activity, so Elvis can come too! Pro-tip: stop at Starbucks or bring your own hot beverage from home with you to stay warm on your walk!

  • Mix up some Christmas cocktails - read my recipe for Cranberry Moscow Mules here!

  • Zoo Lights, a drive through lights show, or Holiday in the Park (Six Flags) - most light shows near us were in high-demand this year and tickets for these before Christmas can be hard to come by, so we plan on possibly going to these light displays the week after Christmas!

  • Visit the Home Alone house - we only live about 30 minutes away from the iconic house, so we plan to drive past it, snap a few photos, and then come home and watch the movie!

  • Christmas movie marathon - no better time to curl up on the couch in pajamas and watch Christmas movies all day! It's even better with a mug full of hot chocolate!

  • Art on the Mart - A Chicago-specific activity that John and I did a few weeks ago. It's a free art display on the Merchandise Mart building downtown! More info here.

  • Make gingerbread houses - this is an activity I will be doing virtually with family this year, and I can't wait!

What's on your holiday bucket list? Let me know how you're getting in the "holiday spirit" in the comments below!
