What's In My Guilt-Free Travel Beauty Bag
Updated: Dec 12, 2018
I leave for Cabo San Lucas in 4 days and I’m soooo excited to relax, soak up some sun, eat delicious food, drink margs, and have zero worries for a few days!
But unfortunately, traveling tends to be tough on my beauty routine! A lot of my hair and skincare products take up too much room in my suitcase or it’s nonsensical to bring them along on vacations - especially when I have limited space or if I’m going on a short trip and only want to pack a carry-on (like this trip I’m about to go on)! Before trips, I always find myself perusing the store aisles of trial-size/travel-sized products, but I find myself feeling guilty for buying small, sometimes one-time-use items that aren’t exactly environmentally-friendly. Plus, a lot of times the specific products that I want or need can’t always be found in travel sizes. Luckily, Target - like so many times before - has come through for me with this problem! They have a large selection of trial/travel sized products and I’ve listed my favorite natural, eco-friendly and cruelty-free ones below! Keep reading to see what essentials I have packed in my “guilt-free travel beauty bag!"

What’s In My Guilt-Free Travel Beauty Bag?
1. XO(eco) Makeup Bag by BlueAvocado
A few years ago, the beautiful Lauren Conrad teamed up with a company called BlueAvocado to design these lovely, eco-friendly makeup bags. They are actually made from recycled plastic! For example, this “Sage Birds” patterned makeup bag (which I’ve been using for 3 years now) is made from 3.92 plastic bottles that otherwise could have ended up in a landfill or the ocean. The bag is durable, water resistant, and fits all of my travel beauty essentials in it! This is the one thing I’m listing in this post that cannot be found at Target, but they are still available on Amazon!
2. Burt’s Bees BB cream with SPF 15
I’m a bit of a minimalist when it comes to face makeup. I definitely jumped on board the BB cream trend a few years ago, and I haven’t looked back since. Sure, I’ll wear heavy foundation from time to time, but for my everyday beauty routine - I’ll stick to my Burt’s Bees BB Cream! It’s moisturizing, lightweight, blends smoothly, evens out my complexion, and it provides protection from the sun’s harsh rays! I get mine at Target for about $14 per bottle.
3. Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm
Experimenting with different colored lipsticks can be fun! But the last thing I want to do while I’m on vacation is worry about reapplying lip color evenly (or worry about getting lipstick on my teeth!) That’s why I love the subtle and even color that Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Moisturizer gives me! It keeps my lips hydrated, while also giving me color. I love the hibiscus tone and Target sells all of Burt’s Bees’ lip colors for about $4.
4. Yesto Cucumber Face Wipes
I’ve talked about why I love Yesto products before (See my May 2018 #productsfortheplanet here). I genuinely believe in everything good that the company is doing, and their products are fantastic! This $2 pack of facial moisturizing wipes that can be found in the travel aisle at Target are perfect for taking with you on trips. They remove makeup, cleanse your skin, smell refreshing, are 95% natural, and are made from recycled materials!
5. OGX Coconut Milk Shampoo and Conditioner
A lot of times, my hair is what suffers the most on vacations. That’s mostly because my hair-washing schedule (yes, I have a schedule for when I wash my hair) is off, my locks are exposed to all kinds of different elements, and I don’t always have access to my usually haircare products. That’s why I’m so thrilled that Target sells travel-sized bottles of OGX Coconut Milk Shampoo and Conditioner! I know that I can trust this cruelty-free brand to nourish and hydrate my delicate locks when I’m away from home! Plus, the natural coconut scent smells heavenly and is perfect for a beach vacation! I got both bottles for $6!
6. Pixi Glow Tonic Exfoliating Toner
Pixi is a brand at Target that i just recently became aware of. The brand first caught my eye because their products are paraben-free and are never tested on animals. And I’ve fallen in love with the quality of their products - especially their “Glow Tonic Exfoliating Toner.” The toner deeply cleans pores to leave behind a true “glow.” I know my skin is healthy and free of toxins after using this! Which is why I’m so glad Target sells a trial-sized option so I can take it with me when I travel! This little guy is only $3, but you can get a full-sized bottle for $15.
7. Batiste Dry shampoo
One thing I hate doing - especially on vacations? Washing, drying, and styling my hair. I have some pretty long, thick locks, so doing my hair “from scratch” can take a long time. That’s why I am so thankful for the invention of dry shampoo! I’ve experimented with lots of different brands over the past few years (a future blog post to come about that!), and Target carries a few of my favorite ones in that are conveniently travel-sized! You can find Batiste Dry Shampoo in my guilt-free travel beauty bag because their products are never tested on animals!
