Products for the Planet (May 2018)
This past month I kick-started a new series of posts on my Instagram page (@catherinesjoy) called, “Products for the Planet.” Each week I publish a photo of a new eco-friendly and cruelty-free beauty product that I use. I’ve since decided to also start writing about these products on Catherine’s Joy. At the end of each month, I will be posting a summary about the products I picked, why I love them, why it’s a “guilt-free” product, and where you can find them to try for yourself - all on the blog! Keep reading to learn more about May’s #productsfortheplanet!

1. Yesto Grapefruit Sleeping Mask
Why I love it: It’s refreshing, brightening, it smooths and softens skin, and it smells amazing! And you still have a clean pillow after sleeping with it on!
Why it’s guilt-free: Besides using 95% all natural ingredients, all of Yesto’s products are made from recycled materials and they’re never tested on animals!
Where to find it: Target sells a wide variety of Yesto products, including face masks and cleansers. Their entire line of beauty and skincare is very affordable! I bought this specific overnight mask for about $2.50

2. Burt’s Bees “Wild for Bees” Lip Balm
Why I love it: It moisturizes my lips without me having to reapply it every 15 minutes like some other lip balm brands! They also have a good selection of different delightful flavor/scent combinations! (e.g. Pomegranate, Coconut and Pear, etc.)
Why it’s guilt-free: All of their products are 100% natural. The company has very specific and attainable sustainable goals (which can be found on their website), and they are constantly developing and promoting bee education and conservation programs. This particular product is part of their limited time “Wild for Bees” line, which specifically aims to support and raise awareness about declining bee populations and what can be done about it.
Where to find it: I have the most luck finding Burt’s Bees products at Target, but I see their lip balms at all kinds of convenience stores, pharmacies, and grocery stores. Most of their lip balms cost around $4.00

3. Physicians Formula Talc-Free Mineral Wear Face Powder
Why I love it: This powder is fantastic! It’s lightweight, hides uneven spots, and is so gentle on my sensitive skin!
Why it’s guilt-free: While Physician’s Formula is not - and never claims to be - vegan (some of their products may contain beeswax, carmine and lactic acid from milk), they are 100% committed to not testing their products on animals. They get an A+ from me for their cruelty-free efforts!
Where to find it: Physicians Formula products can be found at multiple places, including Target, Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, and Ulta Beauty for approximately $12.00

4. Ecotools makeup brush
Why I love it: Its bristles are so soft and gentle on my face. It helps glide my face powder on evenly without creating streaks or dark areas.
Why it’s guilt-free: Ecotools is 100% cruelty-free and vegan, their product packaging is never made from trees (they’re 20% cotton and 80% bamboo fibers instead), and all of their beauty tools, including the bamboo handles, are made from recycled materials!
Where to find it: I find most of my Ecotools products at Target, and they are super reasonably priced! Each makeup brush, like the one I’m featuring, costs between $5.00 and $10.00.

Let me know what eco-friendly or cruelty-free products you use! I'm always looking for suggestions! :)
